Folks,

Thousands of our neighbors in Texas are struggling to survive without heat and electricity in the wake of Winter Storm Uri. More than 30 people have lost their lives, folks are risking carbon monoxide poisoning to stay warm in freezing temperatures, and more ice and snow are on the way.

Our neighbors need relief. That’s why I’m writing to ask you to make a donation to Feeding Texas. Any amount you can spare will help folks in need access food and other life-saving resources:

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

$10 → $25 →
$50 → $100 →
$250 → Other →

100% of your donation will go to Feeding Texas.

The blackouts in Texas are a direct result of the state government’s failure to plan for inclement weather and connect ERCOT (the Texas electrical grid) to surrounding grids.

Inclement weather is a reality of climate change, and we need to be honest about what happened to prevent it from happening again. Coal, natural gas, and nuclear plants all failed for various reasons, including years of deregulation and lack of federal oversight. Wind and solar energy are not to blame for these outages — poor governing is.

Texans shouldn’t suffer for their state government’s failures. If you have the means, please chip in a donation to Feeding Texas right now. 100% of your donation will go directly toward helping our neighbors in need of relief:

We must stand together in trying times. Thank you for joining me in supporting our fellow Americans.
