John,
Back in December, we sounded the alarm on Amazon’s aggressive moves against public libraries—as one of the biggest players in the book industry, Amazon has been amassing power and making it harder for people to access books without a Kindle subscription.1
To be frank, Amazon’s BS made me really mad. I’m channeling that anger into a new campaign that stands up for libraries, public schools, and independent booksellers to have a sustainable digital future.
Can you chip in?
I’ve been talking with librarians, public school library service managers, accessibility experts, independent booksellers, and activist authors. Across the board, they recognize Amazon is making it more expensive to get digital books to readers—raking in profits by charging much more for an ebook than a paper book. They’re even being sued for ebook price fixing right now.2
It’s time to expose these abusive practices, and show who they’re really hurting. Donate now to help launch our new campaign!

Especially during the pandemic, when teachers are struggling to get books to students and often must rely on ebooks, Amazon is at its worst. Amazon Education is even pushing Kindles in schools, and then collecting invasive amounts of data on the students using them. It’s so bad that some states have banned their school districts from using Amazon’s services at all.3
If you can’t chip in, no worries. Just stay tuned for the launch of our new campaign and be ready to spread the word. We’re over this BS—digital books should be treated like any other book!
For all the people who love books, libraries, and schools,
