Big news from Washington: Haley Stevens was just elected Vice Chair of the House Science Committee!
We couldn’t have a stronger champion for science in this role, friends. In 2017, Haley launched her first campaign to fight for scientists and researchers, and she’s been winning victories for STEM programs, digital manufacturing, and the climate ever since.
This is a huge accomplishment -- will you sign our card to congratulate Haley?
In 2017, Trump’s budget cuts threatened research programs across the country. There were articles predicting a “lost generation of research.”
At the time, Haley was working in a research and development lab. She knew exactly how devastating this would be for Michigan’s manufacturers.
Starting at the March for Science in 2017, Haley built a people-powered coalition based on the principles of love, truth, and dignity. She went door-to-door connecting with Michiganders about her experience and the importance of listening to science.
On November 6, 2018, science won, and Haley flipped MI-11 blue.
Since then, despite major obstacles, science has continued leading us forward. We developed effective vaccines in record time. We’re working to tackle the climate crisis and upgrade our infrastructure. And with Haley leading the House Science Committee, we’re confident science will continue to thrive.
Will you sign our card and celebrate Haley’s dedication to science?
