An America United released a new video highlighting how Governor Hogan’s leadership in Maryland is providing a national model of real bipartisan leadership. Earlier this week, Governor Hogan signed it into law the RELIEF Act of 2021, which provides over $1 billion in emergency tax cuts and economic relief for Maryland families, small businesses, and those who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic. While Washington is once again retreating to its partisan corners on COVID relief, Governor Hogan successfully passed this legislation in record time with near unanimous support from an overwhelmingly Democratic legislature.
This comes after Governor Hogan met with President Biden in the Oval Office last week to urge him to stay true to his promises of bipartisanship. According to Governor Hogan, “just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. And you might have the vote to cram it through with just Democrats, but I think it'd be a really bad idea.”
Meanwhile, Governor Hogan is fighting to give every Maryland child the opportunity to safely get back into the classroom, blaming teacher union bosses for blocking evidence-based reopening plans.

ANNAPOLIS, MD— An America United released a new video highlighting how Governor Hogan’s leadership in Maryland is providing a national model of real bipartisan leadership.

While taking action in Maryland, Governor Hogan is urging President Biden and Republicans in Congress to follow his lead by working together to forge a bipartisan compromise on COVID relief. Last week, he appeared in a No Labels ad campaign arguing a bipartisan compromise is “the only way to stop the vicious cycle of divisiveness and dysfunction” in Washington.
Governor Hogan recently met with President Biden in the Oval Office to discuss federal COVID relief negotiations. According to Governor Hogan, “there is no reason why [President Biden] and Republicans in Congress cannot forge a compromise that addresses the nation’s top priorities in this crisis."

Washington Examiner: Governor Hogan Fights Special Interests To Get Maryland Children Safely Back in the Classroom
The Washington Examiner reports that Governor Hogan is fighting to give every Maryland child the opportunity to safely get back into the classroom, blaming teacher union bosses for blocking evidence-based reopening plans.
Although the authority to open schools rests with elected school boards, every country school district has been authorized by the State of Maryland to resume in-person instruction since August. As Governor Hogan discussed on CNN, Maryland has also provided more than $1 billion to upgrade school buildings, sent one million COVID-19 test kits to school districts, and moved teachers to the front of the line for vaccinations.
Last month, Governor Hogan held a press conference to call on every country school system to reopen by March 1st, pledging to use every legal tool at his disposal to achieve that goal. 22 out of the 24 county school systems in Maryland have announced they are meeting this deadline, while the remaining two have also outlined plans to resume in-person instruction.

Politico: Governor Hogan Outlines Path Forward to GOP Resurgence After Trump
An article in Politico reports on Governor Hogan’s vision for a post-Trump GOP. Asserting that President Trump was a “bad messenger,” Governor Hogan argued that the Republican party must “move on from the cult of Donald Trump and return to the basic principles that the party has always stood for.”
Although Donald Trump lost the presidency overwhelmingly, other Republicans like Senator Susan Collins, Governor Phil Scott, and Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick that Governor Hogan endorsed and campaigned for were successful because they focused on “common sense conservative” principles and reaching out beyond their base.
Governor Hogan Discusses COVID Relief, Future of GOP on NBC’s ‘Meet The Press,’ CNN’s ‘State of the Union’
Governor Hogan appeared on NBC’s ‘Meet The Press’ and CNN’s ‘State of the Union’ to discuss COVID-19 relief negotiations and the future of the Republican party.
As a lifelong Republican, Governor Hogan argued “common sense conservatives” can be successful nationally if they can separate the message from the “bad messenger” of President Trump. According to Governor Hogan, “we've got to move on from the cult of Donald Trump and return to the basic principles that the party has always stood for.”
Governor Hogan recently met with President Biden in the Oval Office to urge him to “lead by finding common ground” with Republicans in Congress on the COVID-19 relief package.
Noting that he was able to pass COVID relief this past week with near unanimous support from Democrats and Republicans in the Maryland legislature, Governor Hogan has asserted “there is no reason why [President Biden] and Republicans in Congress cannot forge a compromise that addresses the nation’s top priorities in this crisis.”
