Dear Friend,

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to devastate the health, livelihoods, and well-being of refugees and immigrants in the United States.

Sylvia* is a mother of four in North Carolina who recently took in a 7-year old unaccompanied migrant child. She was employed with a painting company but had to stop working when she was diagnosed with COVID-19 and spent 9 days in the hospital. At the same time, one of her children had a leg fracture requiring physical therapy and surgery. At that point, with five children depending on her, Sylvia had to close her bank account because she had a $0 balance. She was desperate when she reached out to us.

Because of donors like you, USCRI was able to help Sylvia cover her mortgage payment and an outstanding water bill of over $900. She was also provided with additional social support and legal assistance until she was able to return to work. It made all the difference for Sylvia and those five children.

You can help a family like Sylvia’s. Your gift to USCRI today can help provide food, rent, job training, English classes, and a host of other services for families in need. Together we can help people make it through the pandemic so they can get back to the business of building their new American lives.

If you are fortunate enough to be able to make a financial gift during this difficult time, I ask you to consider a donation to USCRI.
