Hello, Friends —

Over the weekend, the unjust, unjustified, and unjustifiable impeachment trial of former President Trump came to an end. Although seven anti-Trump Republican senators voted to convict, their efforts failed, and President Trump was acquitted.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Senate’s next action was…nothing at all. Following the impeachment trial, the Senate immediately went into recess. It’s disappointing to see that the Senate was willing to waste plenty of time on an unconstitutional and unnecessary impeachment trial, and then decide to take a break. This time would have been better spent finally putting the past behind them, and working together on legislation to help the American people.

The blame, however, does not fall entirely on the upper chamber. The House has been in recess this week, too. Next week, the House will be in session, and the House is expected to consider the nearly $2 trillion package of progressive priorities Democrats have hurriedly cobbled together. This package will keep schools closed, bail out blue states, pay people not to work, and raise the minimum wage to $15/hour.

Republicans believe that schools and the economy should be reopened, and the remaining $1 trillion from previous COVID packages should be spent before taking out any further mortgages on the backs of future generations of Americans. However, Democrats rejected hundreds of Republican amendments; making it clear that Democrats have no interest in bipartisan solutions, and are instead using the reconciliation process to jam their liberal wish list through Congress as quickly (and with as little dissent, discussion, and debate) as possible. Sad!

STATEWIDE VACCINE APPOINTMENTS

On Friday, January 29, the State of Florida announced the launch of a statewide preregistration system to schedule COVID-19 vaccine appointment for eligible individuals: people 65 and older, frontline health care workers, and long-term care facility residents and staff.

Individuals can pre-register for vaccine appointments and be notified when appointments are available in their area by visiting myvaccine.fl.gov.

This website will allow individuals who are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to be proactively contacted when vaccine appointments are available at state-supported vaccination sites. On the site, residents can select their county and submit their contact information. Once appointments are available, individuals will be contacted by phone call, text or email and will be assisted in scheduling an appointment.

Additionally, as part of the statewide registration system, each county has a designated phone number that individuals can call and pre-register if they do not have Internet access. The complete list of numbers is available here, and local numbers are below:

  • Escambia County: 866-201-1025
  • Okaloosa County: 866-200-3599
  • Santa Rosa County: 866-201-7110
  • Walton County: 866-201-3054
  • Holmes County: 866-201-3925

On January 21, State Surgeon General Dr. Scott Rivkees issued a Public Health Advisory prioritizing vaccine in Florida for Florida residents. (The public health advisory is here). Please remember to bring proof of residency for any appointment.

LOCAL VACCINE INFORMATION

Publix supermarkets across Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties have begun administering COVID-19 vaccines to residents 65 and older. Each location can administer 100-125 vaccine shots per day.

Veterans in Northwest Florida can schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine through the Pensacola Veterans Affairs Clinic. LETTER: Staunch support for Rep. Gaetz

“I support Rep. Gaetz 100% along with former President Trump. Mr. Biden, no good Nancy, and socialist Chucky are doing all they can to destroy our country. If local Democrats think for a minute that we don’t support Rep. Gaetz just wait till the next election because we will “fight like hell” to keep Matt Gaetz in office.”

House Republicans press Pelosi for answers on security failures leading up to Capitol riot

While Republicans question what Pelosi knew, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) cautioned against focusing on her alleged failures rather than the “forever occupation” in the riot’s aftermath, Fox News reported. And while both parties relitigate security failures, it’s still not clear what happened to Capitol Officer Brian Sicknick, Gaetz pointed out. “Let me caution against leaning too hard into the ‘What did Nancy Pelosi know and when did she know it?’ narrative,” Gaetz warned. “I don’t want to give the Democrats any more of a basis to be able to have this forever occupation of Washington, D.C.”

Rep. Gaetz slams media for putting Cuomo on pedestal for his COVID response

GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz blasted the media for portraying Gov. Andrew Cuomo as an “oracle” in his coronavirus response — after it emerged that his top aide admitted that the administration covered up the number of nursing home deaths. “The media is absolutely culpable in advancing this mythology of Cuomo that is belied by the facts, and the facts keep getting uglier and uglier, both for the governor of New York and the media,” Gaetz told Fox News‘ Jeanine Pirro on Saturday.

Comey Admitted He Had Nothing To ‘Sufficiently Corroborate’ Steele Dossier But Signed A Spy Warrant Anyway

Florida GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz condemned Comey, the FBI, and the Biden administration with the release of the new information, saying no one will be held responsible for their misconduct or errors in the Russian collusion hoax. “Not only did our own Justice Department set up the president on the Russia hoax, they did it with rotten information and they knew the information was rotten when they did it,” Gaetz said on Fox News on Monday. “You know, I know, and all of the viewers know that there’s not going to be accountability under the Biden Justice Department because none of the career people there think the way to move up in the Biden Justice Department is to expose the Russia hoax. Instead, they’re going to be targeting [Trump], his family members, and the supporters of the America First movement.”
