Hi John,

I have joined forces with several colleagues to urge the Biden administration to offer monthly payments to the American people until the pandemic is over.

As you may remember, then-senator and now Vice President Kamala Harris proposed recurring $2,000 payments to adults and children, but unfortunately, the bill did not garner the support it needed then. But as we look at the state of our country and as I hear from my constituents in southeast Pennsylvania, I know we MUST provide sustained relief to families.

We are now one-year into this public health crisis and according to an analysis from The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, more than 80 million adults are struggling to pay their bills.

While we are willing to negotiate on how much these direct payments to the people are, I want you to know that I stand with my colleagues who are calling for those payments to be worth $2,000 each month.

We cannot wait any longer. As I continue to advocate for families, children, and workers, I will keep you updated on my work.

Thank you for standing with me.

More soon,
Mary Gay
