It's official, John.

As of today, the United States is officially back in the Paris Climate Agreement thanks to an executive order from President Joe Biden.

I will never forget the time I joined a Congressional Delegation to Madrid for the 25th annual United Nations Convention on Climate Change. It was 2019, and Trump had just withdrawn the United States from the Paris Agreement -- sending a horrible message to the global community that we will no longer lead on climate change.

My Democratic colleagues and I had the difficult job of promising world leaders in Madrid that while Trump abdicated his responsibility, America has not. And today, I'm proud that the American people have made good on our promise.

This is as clear a reminder as any that elections have consequences. As President Biden says, we can no longer delay implementing the policies we need to slow and reverse the effects of climate change. Our environment, our economy, and future generations depend on the actions that we take right now.

John, I'm glad we're back on track, but we have some ground to make up: That means legislation to protect our coastlines, clean up dangerous nuclear waste, and transition to a 100% clean energy future.

If you’re with me, contribute $3, or whatever you can, to keep the 49th blue so we can continue our shared efforts for a better planet for future generations to come.
