John, I wanted to make sure you saw Renee's message from Wednesday. We've gotten a great response from our virtual lobby day, including this short segment from Q13. Take a look at https://secure.everyaction.com/3qX0k4wKKkyKqh9rvPQINg2

It is a big day for us, John!

Today is our virtual lobby day. In lieu of organizing Washingtonians from across the state to travel to Olympia to urge lawmakers to prioritize gun safety, we are sending the message virtually.

This morning, we planted 842 flags, one to represent each person killed by a gun in Washington state in 2019, the most recent year for which data is available. In a short (distanced!) speaking program, Attorney General Bob Ferguson, April Schentrup whose daughter was killed in Parkland, Lyn Idahosa Berry, Executive Director of the Federal Way Black Collective, joined me and my team in honoring all victims of gun violence and called on lawmakers to pass gun responsibility legislation this session. More than 700 Washingtonians have joined the call for action. Read the letter and see video messages urging lawmakers to prevent gun violence here.

Today has reminded us just how important this work is. Planting 842 flags made us slow down and consider the 842 lives they represent and the countless families and communities forever changed by senseless gun violence. Many supporters shared their own stories in video messages to lawmakers, putting faces to this epidemic.

That is why our lobby day is so important. It forces us all, but especially our elected leaders, to acknowledge the unthinkable toll gun violence takes on our communities. This year, we have to work harder than ever to hold their attention and ensure they prioritize action to save lives from preventable gun violence. Can you give $5 today to help us keep up the pressure?

It is hard to break through the noise when legislators are 11 months in to remote work and when cascading crises are demanding all of our attention. But we cannot afford to press pause on gun violence prevention efforts. Lives depend on it.

We will be working day in and day out to make sure lawmakers know how high the stakes are. Please, help fund our fight.

Thank you,
Renée (she/her)
