Happy Black History Month from URGE! |
Hello Friend,
My name is Kenyetta, the Communications Manager at URGE: Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity, and I'm here to tell you about some of the amazing ways we’re celebrating Black History Month. As you may know, URGE is a Reproductive Justice organization centered on young people in the South and Midwest. But did also you know that Reproductive Justice is a term and framework created by Black women? In our work, we strive to center and amplify the experiences of Black women — and all Black people — because we know that we cannot achieve true Reproductive Justice without the liberation of Black communities. This Black History Month, URGE is focused on how we can work toward liberating Black communities by envisioning and demanding a world Beyond Policing. URGE will also share content that celebrates Black creativity, leadership, and joy. Follow us on social media where we will highlight our Black staff members and share their thoughts on what Black History Month means to them. We’ll also highlight URGE members who are making Black history right now. So stay tuned for member-created video content, a Black joy playlist, and a Until then, click here to learn more about our Beyond Policing campaign. Want to submit a video about how your community would benefit in a world beyond policing? Submit your proposal here! In Solidarity, |
