Governor Hutchinson Provides Today’s COVID-19 Update

LITTLE ROCK – Governor Asa Hutchinson provided today's update on Arkansas's COVID-19 response.

In its Friday update, the Arkansas Department of Health reported 268 new cases; 6,478 active cases; 630 hospitalized, which is up 5 from Thursday; 108 on ventilators, which is up 1 from Thursday; deaths added today, 13, for a total of 5,336; a total of 314,713 cases; 240,348  recoveries; PCR tests, 1,334; antigen tests, 1,399.

The Health Department reported that the top counties for new cases are Washington, 42; Benton, 24; Pulaski, 15; White, 13; and Pope, 12.

Governor Hutchinson released the following statement on today’s COVID-19 numbers:

"Our vaccine distribution has slowed over the past week because of the extreme weather. Thank you to all who are distributing vaccines with extended hours during the Weekend Vaccination Catch-up. As soon as we get our 70-plus largely vaccinated, then we can move to other priorities."
