Dear NCRC members and allies,
Black History Month is a special opportunity to focus on and celebrate the Black contributors to American history and to explore our African American heritage. Black history is American history. It is the shared and everyday experiences of Black Americans that have influenced our history and have shaped our present.

This is a critical time for reflection, for compassion and most importantly, for improvement. We can always do better. We can always do more. The median Black family, with just over $3,500, owns just 2% of the wealth of the nearly $147,000 owned by the median White family. 72% of White families own their homes, compared to just 44% of Black families, and the COVID-19 health and economic crisis has been particularly devastating for Black people in this country.

We can stand in these initial days of 2021 with a presence of mind that now is the time to act. Invest in NCRC's critical work. Make a donation and encourage your networks to support NCRC's independent, nonprofit research, publishing, investigations, training, advocacy and programs to ensure the wellbeing of Black communities and to create a just economy for all. Your support, your gift, your involvement in a just economy has never been more important.
