Governor DeWine Appoints King to Franklin County Municipal Court

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced the appointment of Michael King to the Franklin County Municipal Court.

King, of Columbus, will assume office on March 1, 2021, and will be replacing Judge William Pollitt, who died last year. King's appointed term will expire on January 3, 2022. He will need to run for election in November 2021 for a full term commencing January 4, 2022.

Throughout his career, King has held a mixture of positions within the public and private sectors. Since 2012, he has served as the law director and prosecutor for the Village of Granville, representing the village in misdemeanor criminal cases and providing legal advice to village leadership. Previously, King spent a decade as a trial and appellate attorney for Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP, appearing in federal, state, and local courts in a wide range of hearings and appeals.

Early on, King was a staff attorney for Judge Lisa L. Sadler of the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, as well as a law clerk for Bank One (now merged with JPMorgan Chase & Co.) and Brunner & Brunner Co., LPA.

King holds a Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he was a Public Service Fellow, an active moot court participant, and a judicial extern for the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Before law school, King earned a bachelor's degree in history from The Ohio State University and completed a summer pre-law program at England's Oxford University.
