Keith officially has his first challenger, and it’s none other than Doug Wardlow -- his extreme right-wing opponent from 2018. You’ll remember Wardlow as the anti-LGBTQ hate group lawyer who promised a partisan purge of the MN Attorney General’s office, saying:

“We’re going to fire 42 Democratic attorneys right off the bat and get Republican attorneys in there.”

You might also remember Wardlow saying he’d use his army of right-wing attorneys to suppress the vote to make a “Minnesota that’s more red” and make criminalizing a woman’s right to choose a “priority.”

Wardlow is unbelievably dangerous, and we need to stay organized. That’s why, to make sure we’re ready for whatever comes our way, we’re setting a 72-hour rapid response goal of $20,000.

Since 2018, Wardlow has only become more extreme. He left his job at the Alliance Defending Freedom, an organization deemed a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center, and now serves as general counsel to the My Pillow guy, the Minnesota gubernatorial hopeful who has spent the last few months promoting far-right conspiracy theories and election misinformation.

This is the most critical moment we’ve faced since Election Day 2018 and we have one chance to get it right.

Keith only narrowly beat Wardlow by a few percentage points in 2018. It was an extremely close race, and the 2022 midterms aren’t going to get any easier for Democrats.
