John, in 2013, Republicans succeeded in gutting huge portions of the
Voting Rights Act, like preclearance for electoral maps. This rolled back the progress that our civil rights leaders of the 60s and 70s fought so hard for.
This paved the way for Republicans to go back to their old ways of suppressing and diminishing Black political power.
After our victories in November and January, efforts to suppress votes and bar more people from the electoral process are sure to increase, but there is still time to act.
Passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, aptly named after the civil rights legend and Congressman, will bring us one step closer to a fairer and equitable democracy. It is past time that we restore the Voting Rights Act, and ensure all Americans have a voice in our democracy.
Help continue the legacy of John Lewis, and tell Congress to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act now!
Thank you,
