[1]Bowman for Congress
John,
The crisis in Texas right now is catastrophic. We’ve been holding the
people of Texas close to our hearts as we watch millions of Texans try to
survive in freezing temperatures and deal with power outages across the
state.
Icicles are forming indoors on ceiling fans, faucets, and toilets.
Families are trying to keep warm in their cars, in search of food,
electricity, and clean water to drink. All the while, politicians like
Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Senator Ted Cruz are ignoring the needs of
their constituents, choosing to either jump on Fox News to blame this
crisis on renewable energy or take a vacation to Cancún.
This crisis has been billed by many as "once-in-a-lifetime" — but there is
no doubt that this is not an accident. It's the result of an energy policy
that relies on natural gas and not renewable energy. It's the result of
putting corporate profits over human life. Bottom line, it's the result of
reckless greed and the climate crisis.
Passing a Green New Deal and transformative energy policy has never felt
more urgent, John
— but right now, we must focus on making sure that Texans are safe and
accounted for.
Organizations like Feeding Texas, Family Eldercare, and Ending Community
Homelessness Coalition have been hard at work on the ground to get folks
the support, generators, and other urgent supplies they need.
