Dear Friends,
We are thrilled to congratulate Ugandan climate justice activist Vanessa Nakate on her feature in TIME100 Next 2021. Vanessa is the founder of the Rise Up Movement and has helped lead the climate justice movement in Uganda and beyond.
Climate change continues to threaten women's health and well-being around the world. From catastrophic flooding in Kampala, to deadly winter storms in Texas, we know that women of color and women in the global south are at the forefront of climate disasters. However, they are also leading the way in finding intersectional and innovative solutions to the challenges we face now and in the years to come.
That's why today, and every day, we pledge to center young Black women, Indigenous women, and other women of color in our fight to combat the climate crisis. You can learn more about Vanessa's story here and we invite you to share your own story as well.
For more on climate justice and how it intersects with women's health and reproductive justice, you can also read some of our pieces, including "The Threat that Climate Change Poses to Women's Health Is Real" and "Integrating a Reproductive Justice Framework in Climate Research".
Please see the TIME100 Next 2021 for the full list of emerging leaders who are changing our future.
Best,
