John,

Today, we officially announced our new campaign to combat misinformation and disinformation targeting the Latinx community.

We’ll be spending the next two years monitoring lies, conducting media research, and searching for ways to inoculate Latinx audiences against false information.

A few more key details:
- We’re partnering with Media Matters for America, the nation’s premier media watchdog organization.
- The campaign will be chaired by Voto Latino CEO María Teresa Kumar, Media Matters for America President and CEO Angelo Carusone, and former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Tom Perez.
- Finally, this will be the largest investment in an anti-disinformation campaign for Latinx communities in American history.

Throughout 2020, our communities were bombarded by false information on COVID-19 and the election from both traditional and online media sources. Not only were voters subject to higher levels of disinformation than ever before, but campaigns consistently targeted communities of color, older and less educated voters, and Spanish-speaking audiences over the age of 40.

Voto Latino is well-positioned to lead the fight against disinformation targeting Latinxs. As pioneers in digital voter registration efforts, we’ve seen firsthand how false information can spread online like wildfire.

So we can’t turn away from this challenge. We must face it head-on. For the next two years, we’re dedicating ourselves to stopping disinformation and misinformation wherever it rears its ugly head. Please pitch in with your support.
