ONE NATION SECURES HISTORIC FAMILY COURT REFORM

A statement from One Nation Leader Senator Pauline Hanson

This week One Nation voted to ensure  a historic reform of the family court system.

Participation in the family court system, whether willingly or when a person is dragged in and compelled to defend allegations, has taken an all too often terrible toll on potentially millions of people in this country.

I've explained this fact to a lot of people in the Senate and I've explained that I've gone through the family law courts as a wife, as a mother, as a grandmother, and I've seen my children go through pain and anger during the process as well.

How many of the Senators who sit in judgement over the lives of Australians can say the same?

For too long the family court has inflicted pain and suffering on Australia's families.

This is why I support action to take these reforms out of the hands of judges, who have been appointed for life, and put it in the hands of the people through their elected representatives.

In other words, it takes it out of the hands of those who have a vested interest in maintaining the system and retaining extraordinarily well-paid jobs for life, and puts it in the hands of politicians who remain directly answerable to the electorate.

We need to merge the two courts. The restructuring has to happen. I can't accept that this restructure will in any way diminish the experience or the expertise of judges involved going forward.

The restructuring proposal in the bill is long overdue. It's intended relief for families before the court is urgently required.

I have maintained my efforts to reform the Family Court for over 20 years, and I am genuinely happy to strongly support these reforms.

GOVERNMENT VOTES DOWN CORRUPTION INVESTIGATION

A proposed inquiry into the gross misuse of Commonwealth disaster funds at a council level from One Nation Senator Malcolm Robert was defeated this week after the Coalition joined with the Labor party to vote the injury down in the Senate.

Senator Roberts blasted the decision to vote down his inquiry saying, “A Senate inquiry is essential to ensure an independent investigation, void of political interference, into these widely recognised corrupt practices.

“If we ever needed to validate the need for this inquiry, then the last week has done that given the number of council representatives who have lobbied in opposition to the inquiry going ahead.

“Their scrambling to shut this down confirms there is much to hide.”

Queensland councils received $5.339 billion in funding through the National Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) from 2011-2019, of which 75% is Commonwealth funding.

Evidence shows that around 50% of the funded disaster money is siphoned into areas that currently avoid detection and is not used for the community’s benefit.

“Queensland communities need disaster funds to support infrastructure recovery,” Senator Roberts said.
“What they don’t need is their money going into the pockets of a few through massive profit taking, because of illegal and cost saving activities such as unlawful dredging of creeks for substandard road materials.”

The Federal government claims corruption is on their radar with their Commonwealth Integrity Commission, so it is disappointing to see them shy from an independent scrutiny of these funds.

“Their actions today question the genuineness of their intentions to address federal corruption with their proposed Commonwealth Integrity Commission,” Senator Roberts said.

“The deliberate mis-use of public monies is never acceptable and be assured that this motion will be back on the agenda until these practices are independently investigated.”

NEW REEF REGULATIONS THREATEN FARMERS & FOOD SECURITY

Statement From One Nation MP for Mirani Stephen Andrew

The farmers, graziers, fishermen, foresters and miners who provide our homes with food and energy are becoming an endangered species under this Government.

Labor’s latest set of draconian regulations for new or expanded cropping and horticulture, are due to come into effect on 1 June 2021.

Once introduced, they will likely inflict untold damage on farmers, their families, their communities and the businesses who rely on them, and could ultimately threaten Food Security in Queensland.

It is hard to overstate the danger to farming posed by these new mandates or the destructive effect they will have on tens of thousands of honest, hardworking Queensland farmers.
For many, the greatly increased regulatory burden will be the last straw and they will walk off the land, never to return.

For those that are left, the new regulations will cause untold levels of stress and hardship while greatly impoverishing their livelihoods.

The future of Queensland’s Food sector is far too critical to be left in the hands of a bunch of bureaucratic elites in Brisbane, playing games with dodgy computer models and devoid of any real-life knowledge or experience to do with the land or the reef.

If farmers are not given a decisive voice in managing their own land and Government doesn’t kick all the NGO and Green “stakeholders” off the decision-making table, Queenslanders may very well be seeing empty shelves at the supermarket before too long.

Take a stand for Queensland farmers now. Submissions on the new regulations close on 17 February so it is not too late to have your say.
