Partner Spotlight:

As we continue into 2021, Save The Waves is particularly thankful for our Coalition partners. Our team gets to work with some amazing people from around the world on issues we're passionate about. We'd like to highlight one new partner in particular: Save Our Waves Maldives.

Together, we launched a new campaign in The Maldives to protect surf ecosystems and wave resources from coastal development projects. Led by local leader Ahmed Aznil (charging above!), this group is organizing the movement on the ground and fighting to save their home.

Be sure to support the campaign and give our friends at Save Our Waves Maldives a follow on social media.

Cheers!
Save The Waves

Waves across The Maldives are being threatened and destroyed by rapid coastal development and infrastructure. Our local partners estimate there are approximately 20 world-class waves that are threatened, damaged or already lost.

The new Surfonomics Study examined the benefit of surf tourism in Lobitos, Peru. The research concludes that the preservation of a world-class wave ultimately provides significant economic contributions to the local economy.

This report was carried out by the local nonprofit organization Ecoswell, and was written and analyzed together with the Federal University of Santa Catarina Surf and Sustainability Research group (SandS)
