Friend,

Millions of Texans are still without power as the state continues to face record-low temperatures. The winter weather emergency has already taken the lives of at least ten people, and folks across the state are struggling to stay warm, find access to shelters, and are running low or already out of basic necessities like food and clean water.

The past year has been hard on our country, and the power outages and severe weather in Texas are taking place when so many families are already hurting. I know we're all facing unique challenges right now, but folks are already reaching out to my team and me to see how they can lend a helping hand.

No matter what, please take care of yourself and your loved ones first. But, if you're able, there are several ways you can send help to Texas, even from the Evergreen State:

• Power outages, long grocery store lines, and gas stations facing damage from the cold have made it difficult for folks to get food and stay warm, not to mention people who are homeless are now facing deadly freezing temperatures. Food banks and shelters are helping folks get the help they need to stay safe. Support their efforts:

• In unprecedented times like this, information on how to insulate your home, find a warming shelter, or avoid CO2 poisoning can help save lives. You can help share lifesaving information on social media to make sure people are staying warm safely:

• Last, but certainly not least, my friend Beto O'Rourke is organizing thousands of welfare check-ins for elderly Texans. His team of volunteers has already helped countless elderly Texans connect with resources and essential services.
