Donald Trump tried to suppress and overturn the will of Georgia voters. Now, Georgia prosecutors are opening a criminal investigation into what he did:
“An Atlanta-area prosecutor has opened a criminal investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election result in Georgia in the wake of two calls then-President Donald Trump placed to state officials, urging them to invalidate Joe Biden's victory in the state,” according to the Washington Post.
As Americans across the country fight to hold Trump accountable for inciting the Jan. 6 insurrection, he and his GOP loyalists continue to spout dishonesty, now insisting they never tried to overturn the election in the first place.
We can see straight through their lies. We all remember when Trump told his supporters to “stop the steal,” and we're not going to forget any time soon.
Georgia voters helped secure Democratic control of both chambers of Congress, and now, our fierce Democratic leaders are using their new majority to call the GOP out for their cowardice.
It takes immense integrity and courage to stand up to the GOP. Our Democratic leaders aren't backing down -- but neither are the GOP's anti-democratic donors.
That's why we need you to step up. We're trying to make sure that everyone who is fighting to hold Trump accountable knows we have their back while they confront the most powerful politicians in the country.
But we're coming up short of tonight's fundraising goal.
