The nation’s most powerful teachers unions want schools to remain closed through the 2021-2022 academic school year.
Hi Friend,
In many U.S. cities, public schools have been closed for nearly a year. The data clearly shows that children are suffering, especially the most vulnerable students: special needs, English language learners, and those from poor households.

And now, the nation’s most powerful teachers unions want schools to remain closed through the 2021-2022 academic school year!

Sadly, the Biden administration refused to step in to help parents and children. In fact, this week on the Today Show, Vice President Kamala Harris said, “Teachers should be the priority!”

When will the Biden administration and the teachers unions make STUDENTS a priority?

Even the medical community is questioning the constant alarmism about opening schools. In an article published in Vox, Dr. Benjamin Linus, an infectious diseases physician, epidemiologist, and the father of three public school students, wrote:

COVID-19 is a serious illness. And schools are an indoor group setting with the potential to spread infection. But schools, it turns out, with a few basic safety measures, including masks and reasonable distancing, are not a high-risk venue for COVID-19 transmission. In fact, they appear to have far lower rates of the virus than their surrounding communities. Still, some education union leaders are beginning to lay the foundation for schools remaining shuttered into the 2021-22 school year.

And if educators and their unions don’t embrace the established science, they risk continuing to widen gaps in educational attainment—and losing the support of their many long-time allies, like me.

While the teachers unions continue to demand delays in reopening, polling tells a very different story. Teachers want to go back! And among teachers who are already back in the classroom providing in-person instruction to their students, most feel comfortable being there.

Sadly, these voices aren’t being heard.
