It’s been 12 years since Congress has given low-wage workers a raise. That needs to change, and it can happen through the stimulus bill.
Every day throughout this pandemic, essential workers are forced to go to work on a job that doesn’t offer benefits, has no regard for workplace safety and pays less than a living wage — the people need relief NOW.
As the Biden administration works towards an economic recovery that doesn't leave anyone out, it should hold firm on its commitment to wage justice. An increase in the national minimum wage would be one of the most effective ways to boost millions of families out of poverty and help stimulate the economy.
Raising the wage is not just a moral issue, but one that makes economic sense — and with these hands we WILL have economic justice.
