Builder Member Survey - Energy Advisor Availability
CHBA BC
The Canadian Home Builders' Association of BC (CHBA BC) is a Service Organization licensed by Natural Resources Canada to deliver the EnerGuide Rating System along with other related labelling programs for Part-9 homes. CHBA BC currently supports a province-wide Energy Advisor network which services many regions within BC.
As labelling demand grows, it is important that we understand the needs of industry and increase training and support for more Energy Advisors where necessary. We ask builder and renovator members to complete this short survey which will help direct future Energy Advisor training initiatives. Thank you in advance!
This survey will take approximately two (2) minutes to complete. The deadline to submit your response is Friday, March 5th.

Technical Safety BC Fee Raise
TSBC and CHBA BC
With client feedback and COVID-19 related recovery indicators in mind, please be advised Technical Safety BC's fees are changing soon. A 2% general increase in their fees will take place on May 17, 2021. This increase will not apply to the amusement devices technology as research indicates that this industry has experienced unparalleled impact due to COVID-19. Visit fee changes page for further details on the consultation results and to see updated fee schedules for 2021-2023. As a reminder, CHBA BC submitted comments as part of the consultation process, specifically asking for an opportunity to explore other ways Technical Safety BC can support CHBA BC members during this period. Discussions on this are underway and CHBA BC will keep members apprised of further updates, as they become available.

Camosun's now offering advanced skills for clean energy and efficient building micro-credentials
Camosun College has launched its first-ever micro-credential to equip learners with the skills to create net-zero energy buildings that are efficient, healthy, long-lasting and climate-friendly.
Camosun’s approach will prepare students for internationally recognized certifications offered by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners, Natural Resources Canada and Passive House.
CHBA's own Mark Bernhardt (Vancouver Island) had this to say about the new offering, “The building industry is moving quickly to adopt high-performance low carbon techniques and materials. This is largely being driven by customer demand for healthier more sustainable homes and to a lesser extent by regulation through better building codes. There is currently a high demand for trades and other industry professionals that can deliver these buildings and that demand will only increase.”
