John,
The House and Senate are negotiating on the final details of the COVID relief package—and this must include an expansion of Medicaid benefits to protect the health care for millions of people most in need.
Read Deborah’s email below to learn more about our efforts at this critical moment, and then donate $5 to demand Congress expand Medicaid and protect health care for millions of people.
Right now, we’re working with a growing national coalition to demand members of Congress ensure Medicaid expansion is included in the COVID relief package. Thank you for all you do to fight for people who are struggling to remain healthy during this pandemic.

--DEBORAH'S EMAIL--
John,
We are facing a wide range of challenges during this pandemic, including the fact that millions of Americans have lost their employer-sponsored health insurance—on top of the millions of Americans who already lacked insurance.
There’s much work to be done to transform our fundamentally flawed health care system—and Congress can act right now to help close the coverage gap.
As the House and Senate negotiate on the final details of the COVID relief package, they must hear from us on key provisions that could expand and protect health care for millions of people who need it the most. That’s why, this week, CHN is fighting alongside our growing national coalition to demand Congress act immediately to expand health care coverage to those most in need.
Donate today to fight to expand Medicaid in the midst of this terrible pandemic. John, the help of supporters like you is truly making a difference. You are creating the momentum we need to compel Congress to act on a range of issues that are so important to the millions of people who are struggling month after month throughout this pandemic.
We are fighting to ensure Congress hears the voices of thousands of people throughout every state of our country. We are fighting to ensure the House and the Senate passes legislation to expand the Affordable Care Act with a subsidy boost to make health care plans more affordable for people on unemployment, low-income families, and middle-class families that don’t qualify for assistance now.
Together, we must incentivize "red states" to expand Medicaid, encouraging them to cover health care for up to 4 million low-income Americans who aren’t covered now; and we need to expand emergency funding for Medicaid-provided home and community-based services to enable millions of Americans with disabilities of all ages to live safely at home. Consider this:
FACT: A study done covering a three-year period ending in 2017 found that Medicaid expansion in the states that adopted it saved more than 19,000 lives of adults aged 55-64.
FACT: 15,600 similarly aged adults died prematurely in the states that did not expand Medicaid.
And, please consider this: If the lack of Medicaid expansion in certain states impacted the loss of life from 2014-2017, it is even more consequential now, with COVID-19 threatening, and when people have lost jobs and lost their health insurance.
It makes no sense to make it harder for Americans to obtain quality health care in the midst of a pandemic. If you can afford it, make a donation to demand Congress act swiftly to expand Medicaid.
Thank you for all you do to demand accountability from our political leaders and to fight for the needs of the vulnerable, the sick and the poor.
