John, Jamaal is already hard at work delivering essential COVID recovery to our communities.
From the very start of the pandemic, Jamaal has advocated and fought for equitable access to COVID relief and necessary health care to help keep our communities safe. And having recently lost his mother to COVID-19, Jamaal's fight is all the more important as he works to meet the urgent needs of our city.
That's why we're proud to announce that Jamaal, working with the state and federal government, has secured a mass vaccination site in Yonkers, a city in New York's 16th District, which will soon provide up to 1,000 shots a day.

The 16th District was the original epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak last spring, and is still feeling the impact of the virus to this day, disproportionately impacting seniors and Black, Latino, and Indigenous communities. In Westchester County, 171 out of 100,000 Black residents have died from COVID-19 complications, compared to 89 out of 100,000 nationwide. The Bronx saw the highest death rates amongst seniors at 3,726 senior lives lost.
In bringing this mass vaccination site to the 16th District, Jamaal has taken a critical step towards mitigating disparities in the vaccination process and bringing equitable vaccination to our communities.
