Bills headed to Assembly respects individual rights/religious freedom

This past Tuesday, the State senate passed two bills related to respecting individual rights and religious freedom during the COVID crisis. Authored by Senator André Jacque (photo left) Senate Bill 4 prohibits certain state and local officials from mandating the COVID vaccine. Senate Bill 7, also authored by Jacque, prohibits local officials from closing places of worship during this virus. Both bills passed on voice votes and are now headed to the Assembly. The Senate did not take up Senate Bill 5, which would prohibit employers from mandating the COVID vaccine.

Wisconsin Family Council applauds Senator Jacque and other legislators who support these measures that respect the right of individuals to make their own medical decisions and that respect our constitutionally protected freedom to assemble and to worship. The rule of law is critically important. If the constitution can be set aside during a crisis, then the rule of law is being further eroded.

Planned Parenthood preying on different set of young people

In a follow-up to a Wisconsin Family Minute from last week "The Harm in Transgenderism," we now find that Planned Parenthood is involved in giving gender-confused youth potent cross-sex hormones. Christianpost.com relates the details of an interview a pro-abortion Planned Parenthood employee had with journalist Abigail Shrier in which the employee said these kids are being used as “cash cows” with follow-up appointments, lab work and more. The young clients are prescribed these potent drugs with essentially no medical oversight, according to the staffer. Read the story HERE.

"So now the nation’s and our state’s largest abortion provider is preying on a different set of young people," says Julaine Appling, WFA president, "While abortion is still the main money-maker for Planned Parenthood clinics, those clients are typically a 'one and done' situation. This current push for new clients should forever convince us that Planned Parenthood is not about the health nor the general welfare of those who walk through their doors."

Study shows connection between social media
and suicide amongst teens

From the Institute for Family Studies: "For girls only, at about age 13, if they're starting with 2 to 3 hours of social media use a day and that increases over time, then over the next 10 years, this group has the highest level of suicide risk in emerging adulthood."

Dr. Charles Fain Lehman, a fellow at the Manhattan Institute, recently interviewed the study's lead author, Dr. Sarah Coyne, to learn more about her findings. Dr. Coyne is a professor in the School of Family Life at Brigham Young University, where her research focuses on media, childhood and adolescence, body image, and family life.
