This will be a quick email, but the points we list below are important for anyone following this race. Please read them before we ask you to make a contribution ahead of our FEC fundraising deadline on Monday.
Defeating our opponent is critical. It appears the Republicans are consolidating behind far right Republican Jay Obernolte. He's a climate change denier, anti-vaxxer, and he's opposed to women's reproductive freedoms. If we don't defeat him, that's one more extremist joining the far-right chorus in Congress.
Winning is possible. This is not the deep-red district it once was, and the Republican registration advantage in CA-08 is slipping. In fact, our district is even more favorable than some of the California House seats that flipped blue in 2018! Your
donations help us mobilize volunteers to shift the registration gap even further in our favor.
Winning will require a large budget. Whoever our opponent is, they're going to have some serious establishment support. Chris made the decision from the start to reject all corporate PAC money, so we're counting on lots of passionate supporters like you to chip in to overcome the outside money headed into our community.
We're up against a huge FEC fundraising deadline. We're aiming to raise an additional $20,000 to outraise Jay Obernolte, but we can't do this without you. It's so important that we demonstrate that we have the strength and numbers to flip this seat.
