More than 45 million people across America hold a total of $1.6 trillion
in student loan debt. President Biden has the power to cancel this debt
and help relieve the mountain of economic stress that so many are facing
during this pandemic.

Yet, this is an example of a disappointing headline we’re seeing after
President Biden’s CNN town hall last night:

[ USA ]USA Today headline: I will not make it happen. Joe Biden shoots down
$50K student loan forgiveness plan.

Forgiving student debt is an economic justice issue. Women hold two-thirds
of student debt, and Black borrowers owe $25,000 more on average than
white borrowers. That’s one important reason why Pramila is advocating for
full student debt cancellation.



President Biden says he’s willing to cancel $10,000 of student debt, but
he can and must go further while we have the chance! [ [link removed] ]If you agree that

This country was already experiencing historic economic inequality long
before the COVID-19 crisis. One in four student loan borrowers were behind
on payments even before the pandemic started.

need to use that power to deliver on a transformative economic agenda. One
key component to that agenda is forgiving student debt.
