Dear CLCV Member,

Next week is the release of CLCV’s annual California Environmental Scorecard, where we evaluate and grade the environmental actions of the Governor and every state legislator. We know it’s nearly impossible for Californians to stay up to date on the thousands of votes and bills in Sacramento, so we track them and report out how your representatives are doing.

We’ll be rolling out the Scorecard on our social media channels next week, starting with a special press conference on Feb. 24th at 11:15am via Facebook Live. Be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram if you’re not already and you’ll be among the first to hear our announcement!

This year’s Scorecard will recognize the climate champions who fought for bold legislative action during an extremely difficult year in 2020. We will also be pulling back the curtain to show which legislators called for rollbacks on the crucial policies scientists tell us we need to protect our future.

As the urgency to address our climate crisis grows, we’ve revamped the Scorecard to show which legislators are accepting campaign contributions from oil and gas companies.

The California Environmental Scorecard serves both as a transparency tool for voters, and as a reminder for legislators that we expect them to work on behalf of Californians and our collective future, not corporate interests.

Follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to be among the first to receive the California Environmental Scorecard and find out where your legislator stands!

Thank you for being an environmental voter,

Mike Young

We believe that transformational change is necessary and only by transforming our political system will we create the opportunity to take bold action on climate change. We elect and cultivate environmental champions, turn election victories into policy wins, hold our lawmakers accountable, and build political power for change. We inspire hope and action and fight for equity and justice for all Californians. We are in the business of changing what’s possible.
