When Greg Gianforte assaulted a reporter on the campaign trail back in 2017, it was an early sign of the violence that was to come under Trumpism.

During Trump’s second impeachment trial, House managers used this assault as proof that Trump, and Republicans like him, have been promoting violence for years.

The impeachment trial was a stark reminder of the work we have to do to wipe out this kind of violent rhetoric from our politics. That starts with voting out Trump-lookalikes like Gianforte.

Gianforte is unfortunately not the only Montana Republican who is complicit in this politics of violence. Rep. Rosendale has known connections to a far-right militia group, and Sen. Daines voted to acquit Trump even after the violence he witnessed at the Capitol.
