Texas Governor Greg Abbott and other GOP lawmakers are trying everything they can to escape responsibility for the power outage crisis sweeping Texas right now.

The suffering and loss of life in Texas because of this crisis are deeply upsetting. It makes it that much more despicable that Republicans are spending their time lying about the power outages and the Green New Deal on TV instead of dealing with the humanitarian crisis.

Counter to the GOP lies, the Green New Deal will upgrade our crumbling infrastructure and promote equity, safety, justice, and resiliency. And it can prevent future situations like the one in Texas.

AOC has made the Green New Deal a central part of her advocacy while in Congress. AOC and Bernie Sanders even introduced legislation recently that would direct President Biden to declare a climate emergency. Our push to pass a Green New Deal is a critical part of our movement to upgrade our infrastructure, protect our communities, and defeat Republican greed.
