A Georgetown professor said it all in a letter to the Washington Post, “those who vote to acquit the former president will now own it all: The incendiary speech that made the nation's capital a killing ground but also the months of incitement and lying that built up to the violence.”
The GOP has long owned and parroted the white supremacist rhetoric that led to insurrectionists trying to murder our representatives. After all, we've watched for years as they've ignored the brutal murders of unarmed Black Americans and excused white nationalist attacks on communities of color.
That's why fearless Democrats aren't giving the GOP any room for their pathetic excuses. Every single phrase in the House impeachment managers' arguments against Trump was powerful and indisputable.
But even as leaders like Del. Stacey Plaskett played back some of the most horrific moments of Jan. 6, all but seven Republicans still turned away from acknowledging the truth and voted to acquit the former president.
Our Democratic leadership needs to know that we stand with them.
The National Republican Congressional Committee has already put out their targets for 2022 -- and we're doing our best to fight back against. But look, we need you now.
