Dear Friend,

I know you care deeply about historic places for many reasons. Their stories enrich our lives and connect us to our past. The architecture inspires us. They help strengthen our communities.

I share your love of historic places for these reasons and many more. Most importantly, I love and value historic places because their very presence and the stories they tell have the potential to inspire every American.

That’s why all of us at the National Trust believe every American should be able to see themselves, their history, and their potential in our collective story and in our national landscape.

This belief is at the core of our vital mission to tell the full American story. With historic preservation we’re saving the places, memories, and stories that reflect the diverse people who make up our country.

As we celebrate Black History Month in February, and Women’s History Month in March, we are honored to be able to highlight places that tell the story of all Americans, including women, people of color, and others whose contributions to our cultural heritage are often overlooked.

Over the next few weeks, you’re going to be hearing more from us about the work we do to tell the full American story and why it forms the foundation of our mission. We’ll be showcasing some of the places we’ve saved and spotlighting places that still need saving. We’ll also be asking you to join us on this journey—we can’t tell the full American story without your support.

We've set a goal to raise $25,000 by March 31 to help continue our work to save a diverse range of places and stories, including where African Americans and other people of color made history.

If you’d like to get a head start on helping us reach our goal, you can donate now. Your gift ensures we have the resources needed to protect and support places that reveal our diverse American history, connect our past and present, and strengthen our future as a country.

Thank you for standing with us in our mission to honor all Americans by expanding historic preservation to all so that we can continue to tell the full American story.

With gratitude,

Lynn English
