I learned the value of public service at a very young age, John.

It’s why I was called to serve in the Army Reserves after 9/11 -- serving three active duty tours, including overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It’s why I’ve helped lead a nationally-recognized environmental services and waste reduction company based in Raleigh.

And it’s why I fought for better schools, clean air, and campaign finance reform in our political system as a State Senator right here in North Carolina.

Now, the value of serving others has led me to run for U.S. Senate. I’ll tell you why.

I’ve had enough of the corruption we see in Washington every single day. The system is broken -- and Mitch McConnell and Thom Tillis aren’t doing a thing to fix it. It’s past time we elect leaders who have the courage to stand up to the wealthy special interests trying to influence our elections and our government.

That’s why I’m refusing to take any money from corporate PACs that fuel the corruption we see in our politics. Instead, I’m relying on folks like you to keep this campaign running. We have an important FEC fundraising deadline on Monday -- will you pitch in $10 or more to help us hit our target for the quarter?

The polls show this race is winnable because the people of North Carolina are fed up with politicians who don’t work for them. They want leaders who will carry their voices to Washington and fight for their best interests.

We all deserve better from our elected officials, and I’m running to be the independent voice you deserve in Congress today.
