Dear John,

The Senate has confirmed seven members of President Biden's cabinet so far, and already history has been made.

Secretary Lloyd Austin is the first Black Secretary of Defense, Secretary Janet Yellen is the first woman to serve as Treasury Secretary, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas is the department's first Latino secretary, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is the first openly gay person to become the secretary of any Cabinet position.

The other confirmed members are also dedicated public servants who are ready to meet the challenges of this moment: Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough each have decades of experience and are committed to moving our country in the right direction.

I look forward to the confirmations of the rest of President Biden's nominees, including Congresswoman Deb Haaland, who will soon become our country's first Indigenous Secretary of Interior and Judge Merrick Garland who will be a fair and just Attorney General.

When the entire Cabinet is confirmed, it will be the most diverse in our country's history. The Cabinet will look like America and reflect the values of America.

I strongly support all of President Biden's Cabinet members, and I am working hard for the speedy confirmation of the remaining nominees.
