There are so many political cowards among Senate Republicans — along with those supportive of, or at least deferential to, the white-supremacist “politics” personified by Donald Trump — that they were able to manufacture a “not guilty” verdict in Trump’s second impeachment trial.
Notwithstanding the Senate’s denial of reality in Trump’s incitement of the January 6 insurrection, Trump broke numerous laws during his four years in office.
Mitch McConnell — the Republican leader in the Senate — openly admitted as much in the shameless “have my cake and eat it too” screed he delivered immediately after letting Trump off on a bogus technicality (a bogus technicality that McConnell himself engineered).
And here’s the thing:
A president who is no longer in office is subject to investigation and prosecution for any and all crimes he committed while in office.
So, despite — or maybe because of — the Republican Party’s ongoing fear of and fealty to Donald Trump, it is now up to the justice system to hold Trump accountable.
Join Public Citizen in urging Attorneys General and District Attorneys across the country to investigate Trump for any crimes he committed within their jurisdictions and to prosecute the former president to the full extent of the law.

Thanks for taking action.
For justice,

P.S. For half a century, Public Citizen has been advancing policies that put the needs of everyday Americans before the greed of billionaires and Big Business. That legacy of progress and that ongoing work could not matter more right now, as our nation transitions to a Joe Biden presidency that will be as progressive as we — you and Public Citizen, together — make it. We’re also busy undoing all the damage Trump did. And, like so many nonprofits and small businesses, we continue to experience financial strain related to the coronavirus pandemic. If you can, please make an emergency donation today to support the critical work we’re doing together or even join our popular Monthly Giving program. Thank you.
