Speak up for transit

Today! Priority for the 1 California

SFMTA is getting ready to roll out temporary priority lanes for the 1 California. If you ever use this route, and especially if you live in Districts 1, 2, or 3, please join their community meetings. The first is today, February 17, at 11:30. The second is next week, on February 24. They are covering different segments at each meeting, but as we know, improvements in one place affect riders along the whole route. Sign up now to stay informed about when and how to speak up!

How We Can Fund Muni (Wednesday February 24)

Muni is facing massive revenue losses due to COVID, on top of years of underfunding that have left it vulnerable with outdated equipment and facilities.

We have fought for, and won, federal relief funding that no one thought likely in the beginning. We'll continue to push for the additional federal relief essential to see Muni through the pandemic. After that runs out, however, Muni will still be left with mounting costs of deffered maintenance and lack of investment to deliver the service we need in the longer term.

Register today to learn from SFMTA staff about how much funding Muni really needs, and where it can come from. How much funding can we get voters to support in the next election?

Bay Bridge Transit Lane

Our friends at the Transbay Coalition are working with California state legislators to get needed bus priority on the Bay Bridge (and on the bridge approaches). People's trip times into and out of San Francisco can vary widely depending on traffic. This needs to be fixed for today's riders; and if there's a more efficient, reliable ride more people can leave their cars behind.

Survey: Bay Area Transit Fare Coordination

Transit fares across the dozens of transit agencies around the bay are confusing. Worse, they add up fast if you need to change transit services. The lack of fare coordination is a major barrier to using transit to get around the Bay Area. Lack of schedule coordination or easy-to-understand connections also make it difficult to get around.

The Metropolitan Transportation Commission wants to hear your experiences getting around the bay on transit. Take this interesting, quick survey to share your story.
