Hi Friend--
Our 2020 Annual Report is out today, with a detailed look back at
an unprecedented year.
I hope you’ll read the entire report (download here), but I wanted to
thank you for being part of the Ohio Citizen Action community and
share some of the highlights.
Long-time clean energy opponent Sam
Randazzo resigns from the Public Utilities Commission of
Ohio
Our Ohio Consumers Power Alliance project launched a campaign encouraging Ohioans to
speak out against Sam Randazzo and 1,500 people like you wrote
to Governor DeWine asking for Randazzo to be replaced.
Ohioans speak out to repeal HB6 and
are at least temporarily spared the pain of paying for nuclear and
coal bailout
The donations, phone calls, letters, billboards, yard signs
and personal testimony culminated in the December ruling of
Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Chris
Brown ordering the PUCO and the state treasurer to refrain from
collecting any fees and prohibited Energy Harbor from attempting
to collect those fees. The law is still on the books though, so
the
fight continues.
I'm also so proud of our
team's response to COVID-19. We were able to build our digital and
phone outreach capability while our door-to-door canvassing operations
were suspended. The pandemic allowed us to build on our strengths and
evolve into a stronger organization.
I'm thrilled to announce that we will resume field canvassing later
this year, but in the meantime we need your help to
fight back against
corruption and greed in the statehouse and to ensure that every Ohioan
has access to clean energy.
Thanks for sticking with us during such a tumultuous year,
Rachael Belz
Executive Director, Ohio Citizen Action http://www.ohiocitizen.org/
P.S. I also wanted to congratulate our members in Lima, as
the city will announce their commitment to become the 10th Power
a Clean Future Ohio community today!
