House bill would make it more difficult for you to communicate with your elected officials -- Urge Congress to oppose!
Dear activist,
House Leaders have introduced H.R. 1, the For the People Act of 2021. While the legislation does not directly deal with immigration, if passed, it would make it more difficult for grassroots organizations -- like NumbersUSA -- to communicate with you and to provide tools for you to communicate with your elected officials.
Specifically, H.R. 1 would:
- require advocacy groups to disclose donors through a searchable government database,
- expand the definition of "electioneering" making it more difficult for advocacy groups to mention specific legislation or an elected official's name in its communications, and
- require advocacy groups to file with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) each time it sends out an action that specifically mentions a piece of legislation.
Please send a message to your Members of Congress telling them that H.R. 1 would make it more difficult for civic-minded Americans to organize and to communicate with their elected officials!
