John,

Have you got a moment? Because this is important.

Under Scott Morrison and the Liberals’ proposed new industrial relations laws, workers could have their pay and conditions cut.

The Guardian declared that the bill would “allow pay deals that leave Australian workers worse off” and we’ve uncovered that it would also lead to more casualisation of part-time work.

We all relied on the hard work of those essential workers who helped us get through the pandemic and this is how the government decides to “reward” them – with a huge attack on their pay and conditions.

That’s why Labor has launched our campaign to stop the Liberals’ proposed changes to industrial relations laws. We’re fighting to protect pay and conditions in Parliament and across the country.

Already, thousands of Australians have stood with us by signing our petition and telling the government that they won’t accept any cuts to pay and conditions.

And we’ve seen the Government start to walk back from parts of their proposed laws, but just so they can get other parts that still cut pay and conditions passed by the Senate. It’s not because they’ve realised it’s unfair – so they’ll revisit it the first chance they get.

We need to keep the pressure up this week to convince the Liberals to dump their plans in full, and that’s where you come in.

We’ve created this ad to expose Scott Morrison’s plan. We need your help to make sure as many people as possible see it on TV and online so that we can force Morrison to abandon these changes to industrial relation law.

If we raise $25,000, we can make sure this ad and others are seen by hundreds of thousands of voters coast-to-coast.

So will you chip in to help us fund our advertising to expose Scott Morrison’s plan to cut workers’ pay?

Cleaners, supermarket workers, truck drivers, childcare workers, aged care staff and many other essential workers on the frontline put themselves at risk to look to keep the economy going and keep Australians safe in 2020.

But under Scott Morrison’s proposed new laws, they could actually end up with a pay cut.

When Scott Morrison last cut penalty rates for retail, fast food, pharmacy and hospitality workers it failed to deliver a single extra job. Even business groups now admit that. But now we are expected to believe that cutting more penalty rates, cutting overtime, cutting shift loading, cutting allowances will create jobs.

So it’s vital that our grassroots Labor movement stands together to stop these changes – you’re a crucial part of that and we need your help to expose the Liberals’ plan.  So will you chip in a donation to help strengthen our campaign and fund our ads?

Together we can do this and I hope we can count on your support.

Thanks,
