Right-wing media outlets have been launching criticisms at Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for refusing to apologize to Ted Cruz after she directly accused him of attempting to have her murdered.
Cruz, Hawley, and a number of other Trump-aligned Republicans have refused to take responsibility for the violent impact of their words. Instead, they've defended Trump against impeachment, reiterated their baseless election fraud claims, and doubled down on their attacks against Democrats.
We stand by AOC's assertion that they pose a “present danger” to our country, but the Republican narrative is gaining traction. Many are accusing AOC of exaggerating or even fabricating her trauma, and have gotten trends like #AOClied and “Alexandria Ocasio-Smollett” trending on social media platforms. Meanwhile, Republicans are calling on Nancy Pelosi to make AOC apologize.
