John, Last week, I was proud to co-sponsor a bill to legalize marijuana and expunge nonviolent convictions for possession in Virginia. Now, we’re working to build pressure so it can become law. Sign your name to join me in calling for legal weed in Virginia:
Marijuana is a racial justice issue. Hundreds of thousands of Black and Brown Virginians are incarcerated right now, or have convictions on their records that make it difficult to get a job or buy a house, for possession of marijuana. Marijuana is a disability rights issue. From PTSD to anxiety, from cancer to multiple sclerosis, marijuana has shown promising results in treating mental and physical pain. There is simply no good reason to keep weed off the table when it could make a real difference for millions of Americans who need it. Marijuana is an economic issue. States that have legalized marijuana have seen a boom in tourism and industry. Did you know Colorado created over 17,000 new jobs when they legalized weed? Virginians deserve a chance to join in on this burgeoning industry.
We can’t allow the status quo to go unchallenged. Good governing is about looking at the facts and making decisions that will improve life for real folks like you, and that means legalizing marijuana ASAP. Thanks for speaking up on this high-ly important issue, — Hala |
