Friend,
The Biden Administration proposed a $1.9 trillion COVID relief package. There is funding in the package for essential services that will help Vermonters and all Americans right now.
Here are some highlights of the relief package:
1. Vaccine distribution - The more we can vaccinate people quickly and safely the better off we all will be.
2. Safe school opening assistance - We need to open our schools, but we must make sure our kids and teachers are safe.
3. Unemployment benefits extended - This is crucial for those out of work.
4. Direct payments to Vermonters - Giving people relief directly to bridge the gap until this pandemic is over.
5. Broadband - We know that the unequal access to broadband is more than just not having internet. This is about making sure kids have equal access to remote education, and that people who are sick can see their doctors via telehealth. This is about equity.
This relief package is critical and we will get it passed soon.
But these measures alone are not enough to help the American people succeed in the long-term. We need sustainable solutions that help our communities and our families recover and rebuild stronger from this crisis. I will keep working to deliver for you.
Thank you,
Peter

These measures alone are not enough to help the American people in the long-term. I will keep advocating for sustainable solutions that help our communities and our families not only recover from this crisis, but emerge stronger on the other side.
Thank you,
