Hope on the horizon for hungry children
After a grueling year of hunger, we're finally
seeing early signs of hope. President Biden's COVID relief proposal
and a series of executive orders add up to swift, immediate action to
address our nation's hunger crisis. But there's more work to be done
before we can declare victory.
See No Kid Hungry's policy priorities for
2021.

Observing Black History Month
This February, we're celebrating stories about the the
instrumental role people of color have played in pioneering solutions
and providing leadership in the fight to end hunger and poverty.
Be sure to check out our blog this month for stories from some of the
No Kid Hungry campaign's Black staff members about their own
experiences with childhood hunger and why the work of feeding kids
matters to them. Our first blog post is by Ervin Bishop, who works for
better national nutrition programs as federal advocacy manager for No
Kid Hungry.

Help hungry kids find food with our new media
kit
One of the most important ways we can help
meals reach the kids who need them is by getting information to
parents. No Kid Hungry's meal finder map and text line both help
families find no cost meals for kids and other food resources in their
local community.

Can you help spread the word? To help you help
the kids, we've created a media kit to get the word out across
your social channels. It includes graphics and copy you can share on
social media, a video PSA from No Kid Hungry and even a script you can
use to record a personal short video.

ADD PASSION AND STIR: Billy Shore on Biden's Hunger Plan
and Kwame Onwuachi on Race and Rebuilding
In this special edition of his Add Passion and
Stir podcast, Billy Shore explores the Biden Administration's
commitment to addressing the hunger crisis, and hosts a return visit
with Chef, Restaurateur and Hunger Hero Kwame Onwuachi.
In his memoir Notes from a Young Black Chef
Onwuachi says "I try to speak my mind and speak truthfully.
There are a lot of people who share similar stories and when they hear
someone being vocal about it, it lets them know that they're not
alone."
"We as a country have had this narrative that when
people struggle, it's because of a lack of personal
responsibility and bad choices. When a child born in a certain county
has a life expectancy shorter than that of Cambodia, that's not
because that infant is making a bad choice. It's because we as a
society are making bad choices about healthcare, education and
jobs," says Kristof.
