Following the dangerous dereliction of duty by 43 Senate Republicans and the acquittal of Donald J. Trump, the ex-president issued a long statement in response to being let off the hook once again.

It’s just as we have warned: This isn’t over, our democracy is still at risk, and Trump will seek to raise hell all over again.
Trump declared this impeachment trial, like the first one, a “witch hunt,” and that his MAGA “movement has only just begun.” He has not learned his lesson, and he never will.
Not only that, but his son Don Jr. is now calling for the seven courageous Republican Senators who voted to convict his father to be removed from office for putting country before party:

John, it’s clearer than ever: we must prepare to defend our Democratic Majorities in the House and Senate from the Trump loyalists and QAnon extremists who aim to keep the MAGA train moving forward. Trump may be out of the White House, but the threat to our democracy is still very real. Protecting it will mean protecting our majorities and strengthening our democracy against the sorts of attacks Trump has already inflicted on it.
Today, we’re halfway through February and the first quarter of 2021. If we’re going to stop the Trump wing of the Republican Party from taking over again, we need to start preparing for the elections ahead in 2022, expand the map, and get campaigns the resources they need to win.
And we need to hold accountable these 43 Senate Republicans and all the House GOP members who have enabled Trump over the last four years.
