A federal $15/hr minimum wage is in jeopardy. Tell Congress:
We need $15/hr NOW >>
John,
Things weren't working for me and my family before COVID and now, things are even harder. I'm still making a poverty wage, still choosing between groceries and rent, and for nearly a year – I've been risking my life at work every day.
After a coworker tested positive for COVID, McDonald's sent me and twelve of my coworkers home for two weeks without pay. We went on strike. After that, we finally got our back pay. I have six kids: without that money, I don't know what I would have done.
Today, I'm on strike again because corporations refuse to pay us what we deserve. It's past time our employers respect us, protect us, and PAY us.
$15/hr is the LEAST any worker should be paid. Congress is SO CLOSE to making that minimum wage a reality for workers across the country. Click here to send your lawmakers a postcard (it's easy!) to demand REAL relief for workers in the Covid-19 bill >>
I'm on strike today to demand $15 an hour at my job. If you believe all workers deserve $15, send a postcard to Congress sharing my story -Gloria
Workers around the country are striking today because we're sick of being treated like we're disposable. Workers even had to walk off the job and sue corporations like McDonald's last year in order to get proper PPE – and we're still not getting paid what we're worth.
We've spent years organizing, striking, and WINNING, and we've got the receipts: $70 billion in raises for over 27 million workers thanks to our actions.
But we're not done yet. Until ALL workers are paid enough to live a life of safety and dignity, we'll keep organizing, marching, and striking.
Stand with striking workers, and send your lawmakers a postcard telling them: Respect us, protect us, and PAY us >>
In solidarity,
Gloria Machuca
