We did it, John.

President Biden is already making good on his commitment to return to America's legacy of welcome. In its first few weeks, the Biden-Harris administration rescinded the travel bans, ended two harmful policies that closed the U.S. to asylum seekers, took the first steps to rebuild the refugee resettlement program, and much more.

Over the past four years, anti-refugee, anti-asylum and anti-immigration policies have separated families, discriminated against Muslims and people of color, and closed the door on those fleeing war and persecution.

Today, we're confident that America is on its way to restoring its legacy of welcome. Thank you, John, for standing by our side — and for your steadfast commitment to refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable families.

Since Inauguration Day, President Biden has taken critical steps to rebuilding this legacy. He has:
Rescinded the travel ban which discriminated against Muslim-majority countries
Proposed a refugee admissions goal, for fiscal year 2021, of 62,500 and committed to a fiscal year 2022 admissions goal of 125,000 refugees — nearly 10 times what it was under the Trump administration
Committed to reuniting separated families and ended the practice going forward
Ended two harmful policies that closed the U.S. border to asylum seekers
Reversed plans to expand the "public charge" rule which created a de facto wealth test for those submitting some types of immigration applications
Fortified the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program ensuring DREAMers can pursue a legal path to citizenship
Sent a sweeping immigration bill to Congress that would change the lives of millions
These new steps indicate that the Biden administration is eager to usher in sweeping reforms that will positively impact the lives of our clients and their families.

While there is a lot of work that remains to be done, I am asking you to join me today in thanking the Biden administration for these initial steps. John, please take action right now to continue to show your support for the most vulnerable:
