John,

Did you see the message my team sent you?

I’m working really hard here in Congress to get the PRO Act passed for the working families of Northeastern Pennsylvania. It’s clear now that the American economy is not working for everybody — the wealthy and well-connected have rigged the system in their favor and against workers.

But, it doesn’t have to be that way. We can get out of this mess by strengthening our unions. Unions have been fighting on behalf of working people for decades, and we need to support them as much as possible.

That’s why we need to pass the PRO Act. Can I count on you to sign on as a citizen co-sponsor and pressure Congress to pass this important bill?

Friends,

Over the past couple of years, unions all over the country have been under attack. Lawmakers in several states have passed legislation that has devastated the rights to collective bargaining and union membership. Here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, we know that unions are incredibly important organizations.

That’s why Matt Cartwright has been fighting so hard to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act. This new bill would create penalties for companies that violate workers’ rights, expand collective bargaining rights, close loopholes, and strengthen access to fair union elections.

When unions become stronger, workers benefit. That’s why we need to pass the PRO Act. Can we count on you to sign on as a citizen co-sponsor of the PRO Act? [[link removed]]

Between 1970 and 2017, the average income for the bottom 90% of folks has increased just 1.1%, while the average incomes for the wealthiest 1% have increased 184%. This kind of income inequality isn’t natural and hurts Americans.

This is the work of lawmakers who have stripped workers of their right to collective organizing. Without these rights, people haven’t been able to bargain for decent wages, good benefits, and safe working conditions like they used to. Unions are needed now more than ever.

That is why it is so important for us to pass the PRO Act. Matt is fighting in Congress every day to make sure this piece of legislation is enacted, but he needs your help. Will you add your name now to become a citizen co-sponsor of the PRO Act? [[link removed]]
